Joint pain is most common problem faced by peoples. There may be several reasons due to which people suffer from joint pain such as obesity, hereditary, poor lifestyle, smoking and drinking, improper use of joints, stress and over extension. According to Ayurveda, there are two major causes of joint pain which contributes to joint pain. The first type of fact associated with joint pain is poorly nourished joints, low bone density and weak immune system. In this type, joints become immobilized and cause discomfort while movement and produces cracking sound. The second type is associated with the formation of toxic substance in the body due to problem in digestive system. According to Ayurveda, toxin produced in digestive system is known as “Ama” (the sticky, toxic waste-product of incomplete digestion) accumulates in the joint, it first creates stiffness and heaviness. If “Ama” stays around the joints for a long time, then joint can become swollen and painful.
